With over 2500 employees and over 50 businesses based at Lingfield Point, we’re always keen to look at initiatives that strengthen the neighbourhood feel of our business park.

When we heard about an idea to join with other leading employers committed to making Darlington a better place through employee volunteering – we jumped at the chance to become founding members and Darlington Cares – a town-wide initiative – is now alive and ready for action!

We’ve been told that our offices have soul – and this initiative is a perfect way showing this and getting many of our neighbourhood pals involved in an inspiring and practical way.  We think that combining our hands, head and heart (and soul) together with community projects that need support will have a massive impact on their success but business will also reap rewards through connecting with their local community and encouraging a great team working ethic with a morale-boosting bonus!

Darlington Cares will be working with local charities and community projects to build an engaging and coordinated volunteering programme that addresses Darlington’s community needs, particularly in areas of disadvantage.

Darlington Cares with their Secret Santa appeal.

The Darlington campus of Teesside University is hosting the initiative including Programme Manager, Katie Blundell, who is working on the initial programme of activities, including a Secret Santa scheme for the borough’s looked after children in care.

Katie says: ‘we will be rolling out a full programme of activity for 2013, consisting of annual schemes and team challenges. Not only will these activities make a real difference to the local community, but they also offer positive benefits for employers and their employees through skills development and team building opportunities.’

We’re proud to be associated with this caring and thoughtful initiative but if you want to be involved in Darlington Cares or any charity and community groups who would like to discuss the possibility of a project should contact Katie direct on 01642 738970, email: k.blundell@tees.ac.uk.
